Make it count — Evaluation
What is evaluation?
Evaluation is about using the information from audits and other information you collect to find out about the impact of your activities. This is measured by collecting baseline information before your activities and again afterwards.
The results collected will either be quantitative or qualitative.
- Quantitative data is data expressed in numbers, for example the number of packed lunches that contain an item of fruit compared to the number before your activity.
- Qualitative data is any information that is not numerical so this could be children enjoying healthier foods due to the activity.
On the basis of the evaluation you may want to change the policy options in the online packed lunch resource to produce a new packed lunch advisory leaflet for parents which reflects new targets for healthier packed lunches.
The information you collect from your evaluation can be used to complete the qualitative or quantitative outcomes for the healthy eating strand on your National Healthy School Status Self-Validation Form.
