Using the healthy lunch resources in your school - cross curricular learning
Use the Healthy Lunch website resources in ICT, Languages and Citizenship and PSHE to enhance the delivery of learning strategies and health education within your school.
You can print out specially designed lesson plans which can be used in conjunction with the other resources and activities - available on the downloads page.
ICT:
Resources on healthylunch.org.uk help you to fulfill three national curriculum requirements in ICT.
- Communicating information: using ICT to communicate with a variety of different audiences.
- Modelling information: healthylunch.org helps you to model different diets in order to assess their suitability for different lifestyles from an OAP to a marathon runner.
- Data Handling: at the core of the healthy lunch initiative lies surveys and research, the outcomes of which inform the choices we make. Use the survey forms as a starting point for handling data.
LANGUAGES and CITIZENSHIP:
The inclusive nature of the leaflet's content and simple language make it a powerful learning tool, encouraging children to share ideas of cultural identity. Its simple language and common themes of food and health provide an ideal context for a direct approach to understanding the languages and customs of their peers.
